Jute Trade is emblematic of the artist's cultural heritage; jute was a huge industry in their hometown of Dundee, Scotland, as well as in parts of India where they hold ethnic origins. Through extensive research into the full production line, the work traces the journey of jute from cultivation and spinning to weaving, dyeing, and marketing of the product, exploring topics of labour, exploitation, globalisation and commercialisation.
